Straight from the way of Dale Carnegie, he states that “how well we really know our people may determine how quickly we know that we have the right trainee for the job and how they are motivated.” Getting to know our team members is important for a successful company, and doing it right and effectively can be a challenge. Here are some ways to build and bond with your employees.
First, your team needs to be built. Your team needs to be built on clear expectations. Your team members need to be aware of why the team was created. Team members also need to know why they were chosen to participate in the team. Additionally you can click here for more information. Make it known to each person the strategies being used, the final outcome expected, and their role in the team.
Next, you need to build up your team. This can be done in a variety of ways. Team building exercises like games, activities, and ice breakers can be done so you and each team member learns personalities, behaviors, backgrounds, and work ethic of each individual. This will decrease the chance for others to bump heads and create an environment for maximum productivity. You can also participate in conferences, retreats, and seminars to help strengthen your team and learn valuable information to help make your team the best they can be.
After you build your team, you need to create a sense of bonding. Continual team building exercises will help your team bond but it does not always need to be as elaborate. A simple conversation with each team member informally can help reinforce the relationships that have already been established. Simple conversations can reveal hidden skills each individual has that could potentially further the success and productivity of the team.
Lastly, you need to continually motivate your team. Remember that public praise can go a long way. Taking the time to publically make it known how happy you are with the team as a whole or an individual team member can inspire them to keep up the hard work or stimulate them to strive beyond their expectations. Doing activities outside of work as a reward or just as a bonding activity can also help motivate your team for success. Doing things outside the office or more personal and less formal; it can create a sense of oneness with your team. Have fun days at work, be flexible and gracious, and most of all be creative!
