New Year’s Eve Events in Indianapolis

New Year’s Eve is tomorrow and are you still looking for something to do say goodbye to 2011 and welcome 2012 in with friends and family?  Thanks to the folks at Dale Carnegie of Indianapolis and Fox 59, we have put together this list of events you might wish to check out.

Children’s Museum of Indianapolis.  The Museum is holding its “Countdown to Noon” event, which is a family-friendly event where you can celebrate the final day of 2011 with activities, music, and a Water Clock countdown to noon that will allow families to experience the excitement of a countdown at a reasonable hour for the youngsters!

  • When: Saturday, December 31st from 10am to 1pm with a ball drop at noon, instead of midnight
  • Where: 3000 North Meridian Street, Indianapolis, IN
  • Cost: Free with museum admission ($11.50 for children ages 2-17, $16.50 for adults ages 18-59 and $15.50 for seniors ages 60+)

The Indiana State Museum’s Family New Year’s Eve Celebration. End the year with a bang with the family-friendly alcohol-free celebration. Face painting, stilt walkers, clowns and music highlight the evening. A balloon drop at 8pm allows the little ones to celebrate the New Year in style.

  • When: Saturday, December 31st from 6pm to 9pm
  • Where: 650 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN
  • Cost: $11 for non-members and $6 for members (Reservations are accepted but not required, call 317.232.1637)

The Indiana State Museum’s Cha Cha New Year’s Eve Bash. This event is the New Year’s celebrations for adults. There will be a special live performance by breakout artist David Correy, four open bars, champagne toast, light dinner and desserts and casino tables.

  • When: Saturday, December 31st from 10:30pm to 3am
  • Where: 650 W. Washington St., Indianapolis, IN
  • Cost: $150 and up. (Also, the museum has set up a special promotion for Fox59 viewers!  Viewers can enter a promo code for $50 off! To redeem the offer for the Cha Cha party, click here and enter “fox59” in the promo code box when purchasing your tickets.)

The Hyatt Regency Rock & Roll Ball.  This action-packed night of entertainment and celebration includes several live musical performances on three stages, a fantasy casino “player’s lounge” and a massive midnight balloon drop in the center of the hotel’s magnificent 21-story atrium lobby.  This offer includes both the celebration and overnight stays at the hotel, featuring a buffet dinner at One South and 2 New Year’s Eve party tickets.

  • When: Saturday, December 31st from 8pm to 1am
  • Where: One South Capitol Avenue, Indianapolis, IN
  • Cost: $39 for just tickets to the Rock & Roll Ball and up for hotel rooms

For those that don’t want to risk the roads, here are some televised celebrations you might wish to tune into (check your local listings for channels and exact start times).

  • ABC (10:00pm ET): Dick Clark’s Rockin’ New Year’s Eve with Ryan Seacrest – How can you have New Year’s Eve without Dick Clark? This one will air live from Los Angeles and will be hosted by Clark and Seacrest along with Jenny McCarthy and Fergie. The ABC special will feature New Year’s Eve countdowns from both the East and West Coast.
  • NBC (10:00pm ET): New Year’s Eve with Carson Daly – The Carson Daly special will feature Lil Wayne, Nicki Minaj, and My Chemical Romance.
  • Fox News (10:00pm ET): All American New Year hosted by Megyn Kelly and Bill Hemmer. There will be musical performances by the Gin Blossoms, Rick Springfield, and Katherine McPhee.
  • MTV (10:30pm ET): MTV New Year’s Bash 2011. This one is sure to be a doozie, featuring Pauly D and Snooki from Jersey Shore. Snooki will be dropped inside a ball at midnight from Seaside Heights, NJ. The MTV special is hosted by Whitney Cummings.
  • Fox (11:00pm ET): New Year’s Eve Live hosted by Nancy O’Dell. David Archuleta, Mariah Carey, and Brandy perform.
  • Bravo (10:30pm ET): Watch What Happens Live: Andy’s New Year’s Eve party: Hosted by Andy Cohen, the Bravo special will feature cast members of Real Housewives, and Jimmy Fallon.

Whatever you do to bid 2011 goodbye and celebrate 2012, be sure to be safe and celebrate responsibly!  Don’t forget to plan ahead and make a reservation for what promises to be a busy night.  If need be, taxis are available to take you home safely throughout the night.  Here’s a short list of local taxi numbers:
