500 Festival 2012 Events Kick Off This Weekend
The month-long celebration leading up to the Indianapolis 500 race – – known as the 500 Festival – – will kick off later tonight with the Rev Your Engines Concert on Monument Circle.  This free concert is a new addition to the festival’s lineup of events.  There are numerous events planned as residents, businesses and communities prepare for one of Indianapolis’ biggest sporting events.  The next big event is OneAmerica 500 Festival Mini-Marathon on Saturday, Kids’ Day on May 12 and the 500 Festival Parade on May 26. >>VIEW OTHER 500 FESTIVAL EVENTS

Fort Wayne Hosting Job Fair for Veterans
Over 60 employers have lined up to joined the Greater Fort Wayne Chamber of Commerce, the U.S. Chamber of Commerce and a number of other sponsors on May 10 from 10am to 3pm for a job fair for veterans seeking employment.  This is for active duty military members, Guard and Reserve members and eligible spouses of these veterans.  The event is free for employers who are committed to hiring veterans.  Employers are strongly encouraged to pre-register.  For a list of employers currently scheduled to attend or for more information on pre-registering to attend this event for employers, click here.

Summer Programs Receive Millions in Grants
Thousands of youth in the Indianapolis have already signed up for a summer filled with a variety of activities to boost their academic performance and help them develop new skills, while having plenty of fun too!  The Summer Youth Program Fund is the collective effort of 11 area funders has classes including calculus, art, critical thinking, photography, reading, public speaking, computer math, music, painting, drama, science, writing, spelling and much more.  They also have skills set courses on anger management, budgeting, leadership development, self-confidence, decision-making, conflict resolution, career planning and more.  Not to mention a plethora of physical activities and team sports. Lilly Endowment is one of the area funders who have awarded more than $2.3 million in program funding for 176 different programs and has awarded over $1.4 million in program grants. >>READ MORE
